Sketchbooks

 Objective: The student will maintain a sketchbook throughout the semester. 
Assessment: The student will partake in informal assessment, with one-on-one conversations with the teacher. At the conclusion of the project they will also partake in a formal and reflective critique in Schoology.

Sketchbooks: Personal Research
all four assignments due at the end of each 9 weeks (midterm and final)

Assignment 1          Artist Research (2 pages)
  • Research a contemporary artist and artwork (1960-now). 
  • Recreate an image of their work on left page
  • Describe, Analyze, Interpret, Judge the Work
  • In your own (developing style) create a new image appropriating (or borrowing) something from the original artist's image. 
Assignment 2     Media Research
  • The content of this image is up to you!
  • Choose an artist's media and explore! Make an image with it. 
  • Must fill the page and incorporate one or more elements of art.

Assignment 3             Technical Research
  • Research a tutorial of how to draw something you have never drawn before. (a face, a tree, a building, etc...)

Assignment 4       Personal Growth (2 pages)
  • These 2 pages are for the student to continue exploring something that interest them. 
  • Pages must be filled and show evidence of media, technical research as well as elements and principles of art. 
  • On the back of the second page include a short description of what and why you are attempting this personal growth.
