Ceramics 1 / Masks
Students explored masks of other cultures and the idea of transformation before selecting a focus for their mask: their alter-ego, their personal heritage, or a culture of personal interest.

ART I Watercolor Wheels- As the result of mixing the three primary colors, students created twelve colors for their own color wheels in preparation for their color theory unit.
Fragmented Animals- Students mastered layering techniques with color pencils, while changing the value when meeting a line of their fragmented grid.
Surreal landscape- Students practiced linear perspective and transforming shapes into forms, as they studied artists of the Surrealist movement.

Painting I/ Matte vs. Wash Project
Students mastered matte acrylic painting and watercolor wash techniques while creating an image inspired by abstract shapes.
Painting I/ Self Portrait in Acrylic
Students mastered color mixing and creating skin tone by creating a self portrait in acrylic paint.
Painting I/ Composition Painting Project
Students mastered composition theory by combining and changing two famous artworks.
Drawing I/ Landscapes in India Ink
Students mastered the medium of india ink by recreating a landscape with various ink techniques.
Drawing I/ Silent Comic
Students designed a 5 paneled comic and were challenged to tell a story without words, while implementing pen-and-ink techniques.
Drawing I/ Rogue Trading Card
Students re-designed a playing card with a "Rogue" character. The student applied translation and rotation designs to their image while practicing watercolor pencil techniques.
Drawing I/ Mark-making Diptych
Students exercised their skills in mark-making and abstraction by creating a diptych inspired by marks.
Drawing II/ Large Charcoal Portrait
Students mastered charcoal techniques and portrait illustrations by creating large size images.
Drawing II/ Close-Up Triptych
Students exercised their graphite techniques by creating a triptych (subject of their own interest) and zoomed in on their image in successive images.
Art II/ Mixed Media Collagraph Print
Students used found objects to create a collagraph self-portrait that explored abstraction and risk-taking.
Art II/ Live Portraits in Conte
Students exercised their knowledge of proportion and conte crayon techniques by creating a portrait of live model.
Art II/ Overlapping Compositions in India Ink
Students created an image of overlapping objects by using ink and ink washes to build up value.
